Lifestyle

"The Fleming lives healthier in 2025" is one of the objectives of the Flemish Government. The strategic plan to achieve this objective includes actions on healthy eating, sedentary behavior, physical activity, tobacco and alcohol and drugs, fall and fracture prevention in the elderly, preventive oral care and mental health promotion. We summarize these behaviors under the heading of "lifestyle.

What is lifestyle?

Lifestyle consists of a combination of behaviors that affect health (positively or negatively). In turn, the behavior a person adopts is influenced by context, competencies and motivations. A healthy lifestyle can

  • reduce the risk of a number of chronic diseases (e.g., obesity, type 2 diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, etc.)
  • improve overall quality of life

So investing in healthy lifestyle and behavior change pays off.

HALT2Diabetes and Moving By Referral are part of the lifestyle offerings. They are methodologies that help improve the lifestyle - and thus the health - of your patients/clients. Learn all about them in our E-learning.

Training

Interprofessional training (IPT).

In 2024 VIVEL, Flemish Institute for Healthy Living, the Diabetes League and the Logos are organizing an interprofessional training. In this, the e-learning, a workshop 'motivational interviewing' with a focus on HALT2Diabetes and Moving on Referral and a return moment will be tested in five pilot regions. At the end of 2024, this will be evaluated and the possibility of offering these workshops in other ELZs will be examined.
